Guide Overview Section III - Common Health Problems |
Let’s turn our attention now to Section III - Common Health Problems.
|
|
Each category is a separate chapter. You will find these in the Table of Contents, as well as, the conditions each of these chapters contains. Another way to locate a specific condition is to look in the Index at the back of the book.
Each health problem in Section II, as well as, Section IV – Emergencies & First Aid – is divided into parts: 1. Facts about the problem: What it is, what causes it, signs and symptoms, and treatments 2. YES or NO questions to help you decide if you should get help fast, see your doctor, call your doctor, or use self-care 3. A list of Self-Care / Prevention tips to deal with the problem
For example, if you look at the “Sore Throats,” topic on page 92, you will find information about sore throats under the headings: • Causes • Signs & Symptoms • Treatment
The next part is headed “Questions to Ask.” Answering “yes” or “no” to these questions will help you determine whether you should get immediate care, see your doctor, call your doctor, or use self-care. The final part lists a number of self-care / prevention tips for the condition, in this case for sore throats.
